QVATTVOR True Balanced MONO MC Step-Up Transformer
The True Balanced Mono SUT expands the QVATTVOR line with a dedicated solution for high-end mono analogue systems.
Designed for serious mono enthusiasts and purist installations, it delivers correct electrical matching and optimized signal handling for both in-phase and anti-phase mono MC cartridges via a dedicated mode switch.
The unit is built around premium Tamura transformers, offering selectable 1:10 and 1:36 ratios, allowing optimal gain matching across a wide range of mono MC cartridges.
The fully balanced topology provides a low-noise XLR output ideal for high-end balanced MM/MC phono stages, while maintaining proper cartridge loading integrity.
Key Features
True balanced architecture.
In-phase / Anti-phase cartridge compatibility.
Tamura transformers (1:10 / 1:36 ratios).
Ground lift switch for system noise optimization.
Integrated Demagnetization function for long-term core stability.
In-Phase vs Anti-Phase - Why the Switch Matters
Mono MC cartridges are built in two different coil configurations.
In-phase (coils in the same polarity):
Both coils generate identical signals with the same polarity. These cartridges require a direct summing configuration to preserve correct absolute phase and channel coherence.
Anti-phase (coils in opposite polarity):
The two coils are wound or connected in reverse polarity relative to each other. They must be electrically corrected before summing - otherwise phase errors and partial cancellation may occur.
The In-Phase / Anti-Phase switch on the fonolab Mono QVATTVOR SUT ensures the transformer processes the signal correctly for your specific mono cartridge design - maintaining proper polarity, full energy, and accurate tonal balance.
